P3P-enabled Web Browsers and Other User Agents
In order for the P3P-compliant Web sites' privacy policies to be read by users' computers, they will have to use P3P-enabled Web browsers and other Internet devices. These devices serve as the user agents, automatically reading the P3P privacy policy of the Web site the user visits, comparing it to the privacy preferences set by the user, and making decisions to share information based on how these comparisons match. P3P can be implemented on any type of Web tool, from Web browser to media player to electronic wallet to ISP, either as an imbedded program that comes with the initial software or as a plug-in provided by the manufacturer or by a third party.
There are already a number of P3P tools available for Web users. This section is designed to provide an introduction to each of these tools and contact information for Webmasters to communicate with the software designers regarding any specific questions or concerns about P3P implementation and their P3P-enabled software.
If you are aware of P3P-enabled software or a P3P plug-in that is not included on this page, please contact info@p3ptoolbox.org.
